SMSI Minutes: September 20, 2002
The meeting began at 7:40 PM with a memorial and toast to Dr. Walter C. McCrone.

Speaker Herb Comess presented slides of photomicrographs, a portion of his 20 years of capturing abstract art through an Olympus microscope using automatic exposure and Fuji RTB film A number of these photomicrographs appeared in Discover Magazine in 1981. Using compensators and polarizers, Comess' aim was to capture artistic merit rather than anything that might appear diagnostic.
