SMSI / SPIE Joint Meeting
A Tour of Kreischer Optics, Ltd.

Kreischer Optics, Ltd. designs and manufactures precision components for machine vision, medical, defense, telecommunication, aerospace and other industries. Kreischer Optics employs state-of-the-art metrology and manufacturing methods to produce spherical, aspherical and cylindrical lenses, prisms, mirrors, and related optics. New capabilities include CNC generation, polishing and centering of lens elements, production of precision cylindrical surfaces, and interferometric measurement of lens surfaces.

Bio Sketch
Cody Kreischer began his optics career in 1968 at the age of ten. Kreischer Optics, at that time, occupied the basement of the family home. In 1980, he earned his BS in Physics/Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin and, in 1983, received his MS in Optical Engineering from the University of Arizona. He was a Sr. Optical Engineer at Recon Optical Inc. (Barrington, IL) until 1986 when he left to manage Kreischer Optics, Ltd. on a full-time basis.

Cody Kreischer presented a comparison of options between custom optic component manufacture and "off the shelf" factory production with production time requirements. The tour/demonstration of Kreischer optics focused on cutting, polishing and testing of lenses.
