Carl Fechko discovered the oldest and most complete fossil of a Silurian Acanthodian/spiny shark that is approximately 421 million years old. The fossil provided evidence of the evolution of jaw bearing fish. This rare fossil is now part of the “Dawn of Life” display at the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada. Journal articles of the fossil discovery are attached. Carl's presentation will include video and picture presentations of an actual field trip to a quarry in the Eocene Green River Formation in Wyoming.
